1. Initial Consultation
We come to you. A Threshold sales rep visits your home in person, no Zoom calls, no ballpark figures over the phone. They bring physical material samples so you can see and feel your options firsthand, take precise on-site measurements, and then design your deck right in front of you using a 3D design app on an iPad. By the time the appointment wraps up, you can see exactly what your finished deck will look like.
Pricing is provided on the spot, and if you’re ready to move forward, the contract can be signed the same day. No pressure, no waiting, just a clear picture of your project from day one.
2. Site Evaluation & Design
Your site evaluation happens as part of that first visit, there’s no need to schedule a separate appointment. Our rep evaluates the space, accounts for any site-specific conditions, and builds your 3D design around what actually exists at your home. The result is a customized plan and accurate pricing, all produced in a single appointment without any back-and-forth.
3. Permitting & Engineering
Once your contract is signed, our in-house team takes over the permitting process entirely. We prepare full CAD drawings, handle the permit application for your specific town, and manage any back-and-forth with the municipality, including providing proof of insurance, contractor licensing, and disposal plans. Most permits come back in around 30 days, though timing can vary by town.
During this phase we also complete the full material takeoff and place your material order, so everything is ready to go the moment the permit is approved. For complex or multi-level builds, we coordinate engineering-stamped plans through our established network of licensed engineers.
4. Construction
Every Threshold project gets a dedicated project manager who stays with your build from start to finish. They’re on-site with you on Day One, and you’ll have their direct contact information throughout the entire build, no calling a general office line when you have a question. Alongside your project manager, there’s also a site lead physically on the job every single day, managing the crew and overseeing the day-to-day work on the ground.
These two roles work in tandem: the site lead keeps construction moving, and your project manager keeps you informed. You’ll always know who to call and what’s happening next.
5. Final Walkthrough
When construction is complete, we don’t just hand you the keys. Your project manager walks you through a formal Expectation Sheet, a step-by-step checklist that covers everything from material delivery and dumpster removal to the permit card and a full review of the finished build. You receive a copy of the Expectation Sheet to keep for your records.
The sales rep who originally designed your project also returns for this walkthrough. The same people who made you promises at the beginning are the ones standing in front of you at the end, making sure every one of them was kept.
6. After the Build
Your project doesn’t end at the final walkthrough. Threshold stands behind its work with a comprehensive warranty — full details are available on our warranty page. If a question or concern ever comes up down the road, your assigned sales rep remains your point of contact, so you’re never starting over with someone new.
